Since launching Wildflower Linen in 2001, Youngsong Martin has redefined the concept of “designer” rental linens while creating special-event decor for presidential mansions, famed party planning professionals, style-conscious bride and grooms, the U.S. State Department, red-carpet events of all kinds, and such entertainment superstars as Oprah Winfrey and Elton John. She has also developed a nationwide clientele for her Southern California-based company while launching six high-style Wildflower Linen showrooms in Orange County, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Utah’s world-renowned Deer Valley- Park City alpine resort area.
Youngsong Martin’s international acclaim has grown meanwhile through such alliances as her exclusive wedding design consultancy for the luxurious Lotte Hotel Seoul, renowned as one of Asia’s premier banquet venues and travel destinations. Media profiles of her linen designs, in everything from the Wall Street Journal to glitzy fashion magazines, recently included a cover-story feature about Youngsong in a “most innovative people” edition of BizBash, the special-event industry’s foremost trade publication.
Youngsong also has appeared in several design-oriented reality TV and documentary series on U.S. and foreign broadcast and cable networks and on radio and TV
talk/interview shows internationally. Additional prestige has come through numerous official commendations and awards for her accomplishments as an entrepreneur and manager, including accolades from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Congress, the California Legislature, and noted business and charitable organizations.
After Martin founded Wildflower Linen, the former women’s fashion designer was acclaimed for having reinvented the field of table linen and chair cover rentals, by virtue of her elegant designs, custom-milled textiles, hand-decorated accents, and haute couture attitude. Youngsong’s fashion-forward and classic decor signatures now regularly form indelible impressions of glamour and luxury at private estates, famed resorts, country clubs, hotels and other landmark venues that host high-society soirées, celebrity awards events, stylish weddings and corporate functions of all kinds.
Youngsong trained as a fashion designer in her native South Korea and in San Francisco before creating namesake lines of women’s apparel that she marketed through upscale boutiques and department stores nationwide. She also was a senior instructor at the prestigious Otis/Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles. In devising the business model for Wildflower Linen, she melded her affinity for entertaining and fine dining with her expert knowledge of textiles and custom-tailored fabrications. Launched on a small scale, Wildflower Linen has grown to become a preferred source for celebrity event planners, leading hotel and catering executives, and discerning organizers of corporate and social functions. Youngsong’s custom table linens and chair covers have adorned gala affairs in country clubs and famed resorts, at private Grammy Awards parties, aboard charter yachts, in lavish alfresco nuptials at two Presidential libraries, even via export to the world-premiere party for a DreamWorks animated classic at the Venice Film Festival.
Among Youngsong Martin’s newest business initiatives is her foray into retailing at the chic Wildflower Linen showroom in Costa Mesa, California, at the upscale South Coast Collection design center, which is home to the attention-getting OC Mart Mix of hip boutiques and epicurean cafes. On Saturdays, SoCo Collection also hosts Orange County’s biggest farmers market and gourmet-food-truck roundup. Catering to style conscious residents of the neighboring Newport Coast communities, the newly refashioned Wildflower Linen showroom now offers an exclusive array of unique home decor items, gourmet tablewares and artisanal accessories – while still showcasing Youngsong’s extensive array of designer rental linens.
